“Say What You Need To Say.” – John Mayer
Who doesn’t love a good John Mayer song? His song “Say” is one of my favorites because the lyrics describe so much of what I’ve dealt with over the years and so much of what my book is about: finding my voice. Saying what I feel has been one of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn. It can be incredibly difficult to speak your mind when you’re always worrying about what other people will think. But if you don’t say what you feel, you’re not allowing the true you to shine through. You’re censoring your soul and a soul is not meant to be censored.
Holding back what you want to say is torture. I don’t care how much of a conflict it may cause, it’s still better to say something than to feel the effects of not saying it. It will build up and weigh you down and it will come up again in another time and place when it may not be so appropriate. I’ve been afraid to say too little and I’ve been afraid to say too much. Don’t stress yourself out over what you feel others need you to say. Say what you need to say because it’s what you want to say. As John Mayer says, “it’s better to say too much than never to say what you need to say again.” Don’t miss out on your chance to say what you need to say. Glow & shine bright! xo
