“Be Patient While Time Heals The Pain That You’re In.” – Chase Coy

Singer-songwriter Chase Coy has been one of my favorite artists since I discovered his music back in 2011. I had the pleasure of interviewing him for my music promotion company newsletter a couple of years ago. After getting to know him through both his spoken words and his lyrics, I’ve come to the conclusion that just about everyone could use a little of Chase’s music therapy at some point in their lives. His honest and calming lyrics talk about the heartbreaks of life in a way that helps you to know that everything’s going to be okay. The opening track on his 2011 album, Indiana Sun, is a song called “Seasons.” This is the song that includes the line: “be patient while time heals the pain that you’re in.”

We all have to go through pain in our lives. Whether it be emotional or physical pain, it’s bound to happen a lot more than we’d prefer. People we love will die. We’ll fall off our bikes and get a scratched arm. People we love will leave. We’ll cut our finger while preparing a meal. People we care about will betray us. We’ll break our leg while playing a sport. No matter where the pain comes from, I can guarantee you if it’s something other than a serious health issue, in time, it will get better. We can’t run from pain in life, but we can embrace the opportunity it presents to learn and grow.

Without time and patience, learning and growing can’t happen. “Seasons” talks about the cycles relationships can go through and the emotional pain it can bring. The truth is everything in life has seasons. A romance, a job, families etc. We all go through ups and downs with every person and every situation. Some will last longer than others for various reasons. At this point in my life, I’d consider myself to be in a season of self discovery. Whatever season you’re in, just know there will be pain involved, but there will also be time. Time will heal the pain you’re in not because of time itself. In fact, time is really just an illusion. It will heal the pain because time brings forth your ability to see the bigger picture and leads you closer to the path you’re meant to be on. Now if you just have a cut on your arm, then time is simply giving your own body the ability to heal that wound. Either way, time will heal the pain.

Be patient with yourself when there’s pain involved. It’s not easy, but if everything were to happen at once, it’d be overwhelming and we’d never be able to do so many things in one lifetime. Appreciate the time you have to figure things out and get yourself ready to be the best you that you can be. I promise you that your best gets better every day. Glow & shine bright! xo
